Lyon-Saint Exupery is the main gateway to the Tarentaise valley and the Three Valleys ski area. Courchevel is about 190 kilometres away and the drive takes roughly two and a half hours: the A43 motorway east towards Chambéry and Albertville, then the valley road up through Moûtiers and the climb to the resort.

The last part is the part that varies. From Moûtiers the road rises steadily to Courchevel 1550, 1650 and 1850, and in winter it is snow-covered often enough that chains or winter tyres are a legal requirement. Our drivers carry the equipment and drive this valley through the season, which is a different proposition from a first-time driver in a hire car on a Saturday in February.

Saturdays are the whole story in the Tarentaise. The valley changes over on the same day, every resort at once, and the road through Albertville and Moûtiers can add an hour or more between roughly nine in the morning and four in the afternoon. If your flight time gives you a choice, an early arrival or a midweek transfer will save you more time than any route trick.

The alternative is a shared shuttle or the train. Shared transfers are cheaper per person but wait for the vehicle to fill and stop at several resorts on the way up. The rail route runs from the airport to Lyon Part-Dieu on the Rhônexpress tram, then a train to Moûtiers, then a bus up the mountain, and totals four hours or more with ski bags at every change.

We deliver to the chalet or hotel door in Courchevel 1850, Moriond, Village and Le Praz, and we also serve the neighbouring Three Valleys resorts, Méribel, Val Thorens and Les Menuires, along with La Plagne, Tignes and Val d'Isère further up the valley.
